On August 1st. 1959 Alejandro Terrazas Yarza father of Alex Terrazas, Chemistry Engineer from the Technologic Institute of Monterrey (known by its Spanish acronym ITESM), married Haydee Herrera Niño, mother of Alex, and immediately moved to live to the City of Chicago were both acquired the American life style and traditions, which they later taught their sons.

Later in 1962 they returned to Mexico City and on September 26, Alex Terrazas was born. When he was eleven years old his parents sent him alone for the first time, to spend the summer in Muncie, Indiana with the Red family, good friends of theirs. Since this experience was successful for parents and son, the following summers they sent him to the Askew´s corn and soy bean farm in Iowa. There he learned to work and to be a farm boy.

Alex attended from kindergarten till ninth grade the Colegio Columbia, one of the bi-lingual American schools founded by Henri L. Cain; he went to college at the ITESM campus San Luis Potosi and later at the ITESM campus Estado de Mexico, where he studied Psychology for almost two years, but a drastic event in his life (kidnap) made him change path and he turned to Law School in the Universidad Panamericana; where he participated as a Public Relations Coordinator and during that time he founded and directed the first Internal newspaper of the Students Board. He finished Law School at the Universidad Nuevo Mundo in 1990.

During 1983 he worked a part time job, first with Mr. Ignacio Morales Lechuga, Notary Public number 116 of Mexico City and Formed General Attorney of Mexico, later he started to work with Roberto Cannizzo´s Law Firm as a paralegal and then as an Associate Lawyer for the Firm for more than six years.

In 1991 he was asked to be the inside Corporate Lawyer for Union Carbide Mexico, (later named Linde and now known as Praxair). He participated and planned the scheme for the sale of said company in Mexico.

In 1994 he was asked to initiate a new project as Legal Director for Libris Editores a newly formed company in which he also participated as Administrative and Public Relations Director in its beginning.

In the year of 1997 he was designated as External Lawyer by one of the most important Mexican beer factories, Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma (Tecate beer) so he founded the Law firm Terrazas y Asociados, S.C. working for more than four years for said company.

At the same time he also directed the entitlement process and obtained all project permits to establish Water Sound Productions, Ltd (Professional Music Recording Studio) in Los Angeles, California, which has been nominated several times for its productions and won two Grammy awards.

In the year of 1999 he started to import goods and commercialized them in Mexico, entering as Legal and Administrative Director for Merceria La Cadena an import and export company dedicated to provide all kinds of goods to most of the well known department stores in Mexico. During this period he was asked to be General Project Manager and Legal Manager for a leading PEMEX gas station franchise in Mexico City.

In 2000 he became an Associate Lawyer for the firm Gutierrez, Archundia y Asociados, S.C. which later became Archundia, Leon y Asociados, S.C.

Since the year of 1984 until now, he has been an external legal advisor in agrarian matters for Grupo Moctezuma one of the leading companies of the cement and concrete industry.

In the year 2006 he was invited to be co-founder and partner for Rosenlaw in Cabo.

He played a key advisory role in the development of: Marina Vallarta, Marina Ixtapa, El Tamarindo Resort, Isla Iguana, Playacar, Marina Cancún, Careyes, Cuixmala, Las Alamandas and other projects.

Alex is skilled in agrarian law matters, having represented private companies in negotiating and resolving disputes and land acquisitions with agrarian landowners, as well as negotiating and implementing the privatization of public lands for tourism, residential, commercial, industrial and recreational purposes.

He counsels real estate, resort and hospitality clients in all aspects of their legal needs, serving as lead attorney for companies without inside counsel, and as primary outside counsel if the client has an in-house team.

His practice not only encompasses creating legal structures to acquire or transfer real estate under any legal title, corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, but also includes the management of our clients' day-to-day legal issues, such as real estate ownership and occupancy, supplier contracts, employment and lease agreements, powers of attorney and corporate compliance.

Alex has experience in environmental law, including assessing restrictions or regulations with respect to proposed developments in the tourism, real estate, and industrial and commercial sectors. He is able to provide legal and project management and development support for the conceptual stage through project implementation, including designing and implementing procedures to obtain federal EIS approval, as well as state and local environmental and land use entitlements.
